End and new start

I now blog at weekend-quilter.blogspot.co.uk

I am a slow quilter and an even slower blogger so having the word weekend in the title suits my speed better - it gives a laid back feel!

Almost forgot...

I have finished this - My Hexagon Park Quilt using Summersville Fabric.  The pattern is by Lynne  of Lilys Quilt and can be found here free at Moda.  The photos make it look dull but in reality it is quite bright.

Enjoy your Saturday

A weekend with lots of...

this bag - eek!

Marcelle Frankenstein Medallion

Hopefully I should finish the Medallion Quilt over the weekend but I am having to push myself to start the bag - I am so so scared of it.  Think I may use the fabric and make the Noodlehead super tote instead.
Looks to be more aimed at my skill set.
I do hope your weekend is filled with whatever you enjoy most.

WHIMSY DUVET COVERS

I have cut out all the pieces for my On A Whim (Thimble Blossoms)  top and I shall be making it into a duvet cover instead of a quilt.  I quite fancy making duvet covers for a while but I just wish I had an overlocker...

I thought I would zig zag each edge as I am not sure what else to do to stop fraying - although I could always sew a layer of muslin type fabric on the back of the pieced top and then make that into the bag.  ah ha sounds like a plan.
As it is a lovely sunny day here on the south coast I need to pretend I am a gardener and go and mow the lawn and things like that.
Hope it is sunny where you are

What I am working on this week

I thought I would branch out a little bit into blogland so I am posting on Freshly Pieced WIP Wednesday.

I am working on my Hexagon Park Quilt (pattern from Lilys Quilts for Moda bake shop)
I went to a workshop with Dawn Cameron-Dick and got my FMQ mojo back.!

Not quite sure what to do in the hexagons but I will quilt the borders this weekend (hopefully) and then think about the middles.

Thanks for looking and if you have any ideas for the middles I would love to read them.
Oh and if anyone wants hours of mindless tack removal just shout!

Happy sewing

Sewing machine cover finished

I have finished my sewing machine cover and here it is in all its glory.  I am more than happy with it and a perfect way to practice free machine quilting and foundation blocks.  It looks brighter than the photos show but we are all used to that.  I used the lovely ribbon on both ends for a tag to easily pull it off.

The blocks were from the Summer Sampler Series Anthology .
The ribbon was from Creative Quilting shop .
The white is Moda Bella Solids 9900-98 which I am going off.  It just does not seem bright white.  I have bought a FQ of Kona cotton solids in White and its lovely and bright so I am going to defect to Kona.

My next home project must be a peg bag as this is what I have been using since 2006

Slightly embarrassed now!
